Ocean Generation is a charity fighting against climate injustice and seeking to help those in countries affected most by climate change. As an organisation, Ocean Generation exists to collaborate with people on the front lines of climate change – specifically SDG 14 – to develop solutions. They deliver skills, resources and assets to their problem space.
We travelled out with the Ocean Generation team to Antigua & Barbuda to film a Hackathon organised by the charity on the island. The event, held in partnership with United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), was intended to help those who are most likely to be caught up in hurricanes and natural disasters – weather patterns that are becoming more frequent and deadly as a result of climate change. The hackathon saw 20 teams competing to create an app that would help prepare, recover and repair small islands.
We produced three short videos to be shared on social media following the event, as well as four daily wrap ups that were released after each day of the festival. These were complemented by a 3 minute aftermovie which showed off the whole event.
“Working with McGill productions was a dream! They were really proactive in developing the narrative for our piece, capturing the right footage without the need for oversight. They were also able to edit something meaningful that was ideal for our audience. They were ‘no fuss’, delivering their brief perfectly. We can thoroughly recommend them.”
