BRIEF

Soccer.com are the largest distributor of soccer apparel in the United States. Founded in 1984, the company remains a family-owned business based in Hillsborough, North Carolina and has grown along with the presence of football (soccer) in the U.S. The company's aim is to inspire and fuel passion for soccer by delivering authentic stories from the best players and future stars alike.

In 2020, Liverpool FC changed their kit sponsor to Nike. In collaboration with Nike and Liverpool FC, Soccer.com wanted to create a range of content telling the story of three Liverpool locals who were fans of the club. We were brought in to DoP the project with Director Madeleine Penfold, who we worked with over the course of the shoot.

Filming took place over three days around Liverpool, capturing intimate stories with Kate Meehan, a lifelong Liverpool fan; Gareth Roberts, John Gibbons and Lizzi Doyle of The Anfield Wrap (TAW); and Matteo Rittacio, a Liverpool FC U21 midfielder as they detailed what Liverpool meant to them.

On top of the interviews, we shot some beautiful B-Roll around the city, Anfield Stadium, and powerful shots of both Matteo and Kate playing football and walking the streets of Liverpool.

The 'Tell Us Never' series was shot in 5K using one of our RED Scarlet-W cameras to shoot the interviews and to capture B-Roll footage. For the aerial shots of Anfield, we used our DJI Inspire II drone and our in-house CAA Licensed drone pilot to capture the scale of the stadium.

WHO ARE THEY?

Soccer.com are the largest distributor of soccer apparel in the United States. Founded in 1984, the company remains a family-owned business based in Hillsborough, North Carolina and has grown along with the presence of football (soccer) in the U.S. The company's aim is to inspire and fuel passion for soccer by delivering authentic stories from the best players and future stars alike.

WHAT DID WE DO?

In 2020, Liverpool FC changed their kit sponsor to Nike. In collaboration with Nike and Liverpool FC, Soccer.com wanted to create a range of content telling the story of three Liverpool locals who were fans of the club. We were brought in to DoP the project with Director Madeleine Penfold, who we worked with over the course of the shoot.

Across 3 days in July and August 2020, we filmed Kate Meehan, a lifelong Liverpool fan; Gareth Roberts, John Gibbons and Lizzi Doyle of The Anfield Wrap (TAW); and Matteo Rittacio, a Liverpool FC U21 midfielder.

WHAT WE CREATED

'Tell Us Never: From NYC to Anfield was part of a campaign to play on LFC's underdog status and showcase Nike as the club's new sponsor. The storytelling in the piece centres around Matteo Ritaccio and his journey to playing for LFC, as well as highlighting the pride and support for the club in the local community.
